Lexi Van to get up close and personal with fans

It has been a tumultuous journey for Big Brother Mzansi 2014 contestant Lexi Van Niekerk.

In a short space of time she has managed to gain a huge fan base and unfortunately number of ‘haters’.
Since taking part in the reality show, the young Capetonian has starred in her own reality show and made it to the list of the top 12 sexiest celebrities in Mzansi but it hasn’t been easy.
“Fame has not been easy; it’s a difficult industry to get into. The love and the negativity haven’t stopped. It’s been really hard for me,” says Lexi.
Although she has taken a break from TV at the moment, Lexi has no plans of letting the ‘hate’ get her down or stop her from making her dreams come true.
“I’m taking a break from TV at the moment but I also have other projects that I’m working on,” she says.
“I have two agencies that are helping me with my career as I would like to get into presenting or maybe radio.”
She has also been chosen as one of the five celebrity ambassadors of the DStv #LocalMix Mixology Competition.
Amateur mixologists are invited to create unique cocktails inspired by local DStv shows, film themselves making them, upload the video on YouTube and email the link to localmix@DStv.com for a chance to win the grand prize of R10 000.
Lexi, her boyfriend and Big brother Mzansi 2014 winner, Mandla Hlatswayo, Big Brother Mzansi 2015’s favourite couple Ace and Ntombi as well as Ayeye actor, Mpho Popps will be travelling across selected Cappello bars in different regions and interacting with fans as part of the campaign.
The campaign is aimed at promoting local shows featured on the digital satellite TV service and highlighting upcoming shows, however Lexi also sees it as an opportunity to clear some misconceptions.
“People accuse me of trying to be like other female celebrities and some say I’m only with Mandla for the money.’
“The truth is I’m not trying to be anyone else and I’m not with Mandla for his money. I wish people would forget about Big brother and get to know me. That’s why I like being the Local mix ambassador as it will give me a chance to interact with fans directly,” she says.
The #LocalMix will also feature DJ Dimplez who will travel extensively across the country to entertain patrons. The first venue is Cappello Fourways on Friday, 12 June then Cappello Hatfield on Saturday 13 June 2015.
He will then travel to Bloemfontein on Saturday, 20 June; Nelspruit on Friday, 26 June; Durban on Friday 3 July; Kuruman on Friday, 17 July and return to Jozi for the grand finale at Cappello Ghandi Square on Saturday, 8 August 2015.
