We fell in love with her on Channel O and she became a household name through Big Brother Africa. Throw in a few modeling and MC gigs and Weza was a force to be reckoned with.
Year after year, Weza wowed us with her talents both on and off screen. Having recently worked with Weza in studio on my new track (yes she has a stunning voice too!) I caught up with her to chat about her 2014 plans and Big Brother Angola!
Big Brother Angola! This sounds exciting. Tell us a bit about your involvement this year on the production side of big brother in Africa. How did that come about and what is your role behind the scenes?
Endemol is producing the very FIRSTBig Brother Angola, which will be taking place in the Official Big Brother Home here in South Africa.
Being Angolan and having been on Big Brother Africa as well as having production experience has put me in a good position to help out with Angola’s first Big Brother.
I’ve been hired to help out on different sectors of this project. Unfortunately I cannot reveal much except that it starts in May 2014, and that it will all be in Portuguese, it being Angola’s official language. Everything else is still very confidential!
You are also working on a few film projects at the moment. Are there any details you can share with us?
Here is another thing I cannot say much of. I can say that I start shooting soon, within the next few weeks and it’s a very beautiful South African story based on real-live events. I seem to be full of secrets lately (laughs) but it will all be revealed soon.
Bringing in yet another successful year in this industry, what has been your most important lesson so far?
It’s amazing how we are just four months into the year and already so much has happened. My most important lesson so far has been to stay focused. It’s so easy to get overwhelmed or sidetracked by all that has been happening. I feel myself being pulled into a million different directions, so more often I find myself taking a step back and reassessing my priorities just to make sure I stay on track.
What does the rest of the year hold for you?
To be completely honest I have no idea. God continues to show me that His plans for my life are greater than the ones I have. So this time I’m going to stop fighting Him! I’ll just sit back and enjoy the ride.
With the recent success of Big Brother Mzanzi, the Angolan edition will definitely be something to watch out for. Although everything is still hush hush we do know that auditions are over and the one lucky contestant will walk away with 10 million kwanza!
