Loko talks about maintaining good hair

lokoTo be honest it would actually seem some South African women will cough up cash enough that could settle a month's rent and our ladies in the House are no exception. Kat, Loko, Lexi and Iris are all girls of glamour and woe betide the wretched soul who tampers with their tresses or mingles with their manes.

Only last night Loko went loco as she explained to exactly what and how much went into maintaining a perfect head of hair. The growing trend of wearing a weave has seen more women preferring to have the human hair option as opposed to synthesised hair fibre made from plastic with the most popular strands originating in Cambodia, Brazil and India. South African women take their hair trends very seriously

According statistics on mywage.co.za in 2012 reveal that the average South African woman earns anything between R3,000 and R20,000, depending on her profession and will gladly part with as much as R2,000 for a sleek and glossy 'just stepped out of a salon' look. This might be a case of 'hide the credit card', that's a whopping amount of cash!

Always wondered how weaves work? We've weaved some facts into this article for you.

How Long Do They Last?

The hair extensions are attached to your natural hair, which sheds. As the connection thins out, it becomes weaker. According to CyberMane.com, consider removing them after eight weeks to prevent damaging your own hair.

Will Hair Extensions Damage the Hair?
Anything attached to the hair can damage it, including hair extensions. Learn how to properly care for the extensions, including how to brush them, how often to shampoo and how to moisturise the locks. Sleeping on a satin pillowcase creates less friction than cotton or linen, extending the life of your extensions.

Types of Hair Extensions

Fusion hair extensions are the most popular in most salons. They are literally fused to the hair, one strand at a time. Weaving is attached to the hair in individual rows and can be reused. The micro ring method is attached by small rings that need to be tightened occasionally. Clip-in extensions are temporary and may be removed regularly. Clip-ins come out more easily but may fall out during sports and swimming, but they do work well for special occasions.

Hair today, gone tomorrow, long, short, up or down for you?
