Hip Hop In The House

hiphopIts Hip Hop time tonight, its about time the Housemates get jamming to the world's favourite music and movement. The housemates will have to perfect their street dance skills for Dance Week to impress Biggie and we don't mean Biggie as in Notorious B.I.G.

Hip hop styles began in the 1970's in New York City, the Big Apple, deep in the heart of the Bronx where kids would throw block parties with DJs. City living and high rise buildings necessitated kids to make their own fun. DJs, dance moves and a growing following gave way to a music genre that would influence music worldwide for decades after.

The music evolved through DJs isolating the percussive breaks of popular songs and started to extend these into loops creating a repetitive rhythm.

Biggie has now brought the street style dance to the House tonight and made sure Housemates had some hip hop get-up in the form of snap-backs and bomber jackets to get them in the groove.

Jase struggled. And struggled. And struggled. A tender moment between Loko and Jase when the top dog dancer turned around to make sure he was still dancing, or err, standing.
